BUTCH

Bülent Gürler, è il producer turco (ma residente in Germania)  che si cela dietro allo pseudonimo BUTCH.

Dai suoi primi giorni come artista di graffiti fino ad oggi, Bülent Gürler, una persona frizzante, con un gran senso dell’umorismo, ha sempre puntato al suo sviluppo.

Un talento immenso, senza barriere musicali, con una pazzesca passione per la tecnica e la voglia di riconoscimenti, ha subito una metamorofsi artistica enorme con l’obiettivo di esporsi come artista. Ed ora che il suo “Papillon” sta spiegando le sue ali, Butch è pronto a decollare.

Bloccato nel suo studio per anni, Bülent ha affinato le sue abilità alla perfezione e, successivamente, ha creato una sua personale definizione del suono. Un approccio del tutto aperto alla musica ed alla vita in generale, nonché un modo addirittura emozionale di affrontare le cose è responsabile per il suo stile amalgamato che leviga i bordi della techno, house, minimal e sperimentale per fondersi in un’unica grande esperienza. Integrare tutto, dai fraseggi di chitarra – tutto ciò che suona bene – nel suo suono, riesce ad addolcire le notti.

Il viaggio di Butch è cominciato quando era un teenager pronto a “surfare” treni a Francoforte per dipingere. Ha rischiato la sua vita salendo i vagoni ed inevitabilmente ha finito per ferirsi. Dopo essersi rotto entrambe le braccia è stato costretto a prendere una pausa dal ballo, così si dedise a cimentarsi con alcuni giradischi riuscendo, pochi anni dopo, ad arrivare sesto ai campionati redeschi per dj. Con questo tipo di risultato non c’era più nulla che potesse fermare Butch nel suo cammino verso la cima della discografia.

“Papillon” è la storia della vita di una farfalla (anche se è stato il film che ha ispirato Butch), che esce dal suo bozzolo per spiccare il volo a terra. E’ la trasformazione personale che diventa progressione musicale nel corso degli anni, con Bülent che si avvicni sempre di più al nucleo delle cose. Ispirato dal suo fratello maggiore che lo ha avvicinato alla musica elettronica, Butch, che da adolescente andava a ballare nel famigerato club Dorian Gray, è saldamente ancorato al suo passato ed al suo presente, mentre è in procinto di raggiungere le stelle.

Butch ha debuttato con la sua musica senza tempo che non smette mai di sorprendere con la sua eloquente espressività. Rottura dei confini stilistici elaborati puntando su brani come “Wet’n’Tight” o “Ein-E”, Butch sta decollando in altre dimensioni. E universi paralleli. Musicalità reintroducendo al pavimento, Butch non esita a dipingere i colori vividi nella produzione: sia esso meravigliosamente vibrante, vivace fisarmonica e percussioni casa aromatizzato suoni di “Amelie”, che ha il potenziale per diventare di massa, i suoni morbidi e sofisticati di “Osiris “o armonica” Jazzy Belle “- tutti i suoni ricondotti a tracce altrettanto omogenee, fluenti e creative.

Egli esplora lussureggianti elementi che suonano e cunei li beat in gabbie strette. Brani come “Kaleidoscope Eyes” raccontare storie che hai ascolto pieni di stupore mentre stai afferrando saldamente con le loro scanalature semplificate. Quando i violini in la ripartizione del “Soultan” sovrapporsi ai lamenti di Julie Marghilano, non lascia nulla, ma lo stupore. E quando il primo CD degli album sfuma nelle segretamente nascosto lontano, lecca chitarre morbide che danno “Sand”, il suo sapore ricorda, distende ogni cipiglio e non lascia nulla, ma la contentezza.

L’album è molto più di un debutto come secondo CD in quanto comprende il materiale rilasciato in precedenza su prestigiose etichette come Trapez, AFU Ltd., Musica Artigianato e naturalmente la sua Stuff main-grande etichetta, offrendo così una grande retrospettiva degli ultimi anni di attività. Un DJ-mix, che comprende più della produzione Butch sotto moniker diversi, a volte rilasciati sotto la sua Gürler vero Bülent nome, ed è significativamente più croccanti e più severe rispetto al primo disco – con remixers o co-produttori come Oxia, Popof e Amir in servizio questo viene non come una sorpresa. Essa mostra un lato del club più mirata del talento incredibilmente versatile che è Bülent. E conoscerlo significa sapere che questo è solo l’inizio.

Brute name, versatile sound: Over 100 releases in 5 years have enabled BUTCH to express this versatility and brute-fully force his way to becoming a shaping artist in the worldwide landscape of electronic music. Honestly this success comes as no surprise, anyone who manages to release on the labels of artists such as Ricard Villalobos (Sei es Drum), Sven Väth (Cocoon) and Radioslave (Rekids) within a year and gets voted “producer of the year” (2010 & 2011) by the GROOVE magazine readers for two consecutive years, has doubtlessly worked his way up to the small circle of artists, which pack the most renowned clubs and festivals as headliners.
For Butch his latest performances include Tokyo’s own Womb, Fabric in London, Cielo in New York and the Time Warp 2011. Last summer he followed Carl Cox’s invitation to play together at Space in Ibiza and spent every other week with his own residency at Sankeys on the most beloved Mediterranean island. 2012 started just like the last year ended – many more miles were added to the Lufthansa card: After a tour through Mexico, Central America and Australia, top notch clubs in Europe are waiting for Butch: Robert Johnson in Offenbach, Tenax in Florence, Cadenza at Ushuaia Beach (Ibiza), Loveland in the Netherlands, Extrema Festival in Belgium and the renowned “Sonne Mond und Sterne” as well as the “Merkwürdige Verhalten am Strand” – festivals are all expecting to be captured by Butch’s sound.
On the other hand capturing what Butch’s style is exactly isn’t that simple. The range within the productions of the Mainz born artist stretches from House to Techno, but Butch manages to inject his own authentic and unique sound, which digs itself through the fans’ and DJs’ ears right into their hearts. The musical diversity and his joy for experimentation have made his albums “Papillon” (2008) and “Eyes Wide Open” (2010) to audible feasts for every gourmet, to be enjoyed just as much on the home stereo as well as in any club. That his sound achieves positive resonance en masse is impressively shown on the Resident Advisor homepage. The website which claims to be an international indicator for the credibility of electronic music and its producers, had Butch up as the “Most Charted Artist” for over a year. A success which speaks volumes, because it cannot be manipulated as record sales once were; solely the charts of a worldwide DJ community count. The good-spirited global player has a lot more music coming for us to look forward to. More new releases on other top labels are ready to hit the floors, furthermore (as well as on anstatt furthermore?) his own record label bouq. which is maturing to be the renowned imprint which won’t be standing in the shadows of its makers (besides Butch this includes his friend and studio-partner Amir) any longer.
